WINONA LAKE, Ind. — Despite the Bethel Women’s Basketball (6-20, 1-15) loss to Grace College (13-13, 8-8) 84-63, Maiah Shelton hit the one thousand point mark in today’s contest.

The Pilots battled the Lancers but couldn’t stop them from controlling the boards, as Grace had 33 to Bethel’s 22. Grace scored 54 points in the paint and 10 second-chance points.

The end of the first quarter was tightly contested, with Bethel leading at the end 18-17 from a three-pointer made by Ellia Foster.

Grace took the lead in the second quarter, but Bethel hung on tightly and kept the lead to three going into halftime.

The Lancers took control of the game in the third and pressed until they had a comfortable lead.

Maiah Shelton led the Pilots with 16 points, a block, and two rebounds and recorded her 1000th career point when she scored her 14th point in the first half.

Caroline Morris had 13 points during the match, and Elia Foster added 10.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots will be home on Feb. 21 as they take on Spring Arbor University for Senior Night, with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
