Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 26-March 3

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from February 26 through March 3. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Elijah Malone, Grace
Malone powered No. 1 Grace past Taylor and No. 22 Marian in the Crossroads League Tournament, helping the Lancers into the title game. Malone averaged 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in those two wins, while hitting 66.7-percent of his shots from the floor.

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Lilli Frasure, Indiana Wesleyan
Frasure averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game in No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan’s Crossroads League Tournament victories over Taylor and Spring Arbor. Frasure also shot 61.5 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from three-point territory.

Men’s Bowler of the Week
Caleb Tate, Spring Arbor
Tate led Spring Arbor to the Crossroads League Bowling Tournament Championship by rolling strikes in 11 of his 14 frames during match play for the Cougars.

Women’s Bowler of the Week
Kassidy Alexander, Spring Arbor
Alexander anchored the SAU lineup during its run to the Crossroads League Bowling Tournament Championship. Alexander helped the Cougars lead the pack in the Baker qualifying games, before topping Bethel and Marian in the tournament.

Baseball Player of the Week
Bryce Davenport, Marian
Davenport led Marian to a series win against Goshen by hitting .400 with a .550 on-base percentage in the four-game set. Davenport homered three times, drove in 10 runs and scored five runs of his own for the Knights.

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Evan Etchison, Grace
Etchison fired a complete game shutout at No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan in Grace’s 2-0 upset of the Wildcats. The senior righty fanned eight over seven scoreless frames and scattered six hits and four walks in the win.

Softball Player of the Week
Kiera Mayer, Mount Vernon Nazarene
Mayer swatted four home runs and drove in 11 runs for Mount Vernon Nazarene during its 4-2 week. The sophomore batted .381 in those six games, scored six runs and added one stolen base to power the Cougar lineup.

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Camryn Barrows, Goshen
Barrows pitched in six games for Goshen, as the Maple Leafs went 5-1 on the week. Barrows recorded the win in the circle in three of those contests and posted a 1.05 earned-run average over 20.0 total innings of work.

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Jaume Riera Galindo, Spring Arbor
Galindo scored a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for Spring Arbor in its 9-0 victory against Albion.

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Victoria Herrington, Spring Arbor
Herrington helped Spring Arbor to a 9-0 blanking of Albion by posting a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles and an 8-0 victory at No. 1 doubles for the Cougars.
