MELBOURNE, Fla- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (4-14, 0-0 CCAC) fell in both games of their doubleheader, dropping game one 12-6 to Missouri Baptist University (10-5) before losing game two to Indiana Tech University (14-2) by a final score of 10-0.

Game 1

Game one saw the Spartans of Missouri Baptist gain an early lead by scoring three runs on two hits in the top of the first inning.

The Titans answered with a run in the bottom half of the first and second innings, Abigail Yarnell got IU South Bend on the board with an RBI single that scored Maddie Leisher before Alexis Riem’s second inning RBI single scored shortstop Jade Baker, bringing the Titans deficit to just one run at 3-2.

Game one remained at 3-2 until the fifth inning when Missouri Baptist plated two runs on three hits and then scored again in the sixth to extend their lead to 6-2.

The IU South Bend offense rallied in the bottom half of the sixth when a sacrifice fly from Jade Baker, a single from Kaitlynne Allen, and a Missouri Baptist error allowed four runs to score in the frame, tying the game at 6-6.

Still, the Spartans would not go away, plating six runs in the top of the seventh. IUSB failed to score in the bottom half of the frame and ultimately fell in game one by a final score of 12-6.

Game 2

Game two of the doubleheader was all Indiana Tech with the Warriors plating four runs on three hits in the bottom of the first to jump out to a 4-0 lead.

Another Indiana Tech run in the second inning grew their lead to five through two innings of play.

The game remained at 5-0 until the bottom half of the fifth inning when the Warriors broke the game open, plating five runs on three hits and three IUSB errors to end game two early with the Titans falling by a final score of 10-0.
