Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | March 11-17

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from March 11 through 17. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Baseball Player of the Week
Quinn Willard, Indiana Wesleyan
Willard played a key role in IWU plating 65 runs over six games, hitting .500 with 10 runs scored and 16 runs batted in. Along with going 12-of-24 at the plate, Willard mixed in two doubles, three triples, three home runs and added three steals without being caught.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Gabel Pentecost, Taylor
Pentecost whiffed the first seven batters of the game in a 9-4 win over Grace and finished the day with 11 strikeouts over seven innings. The sophomore allowed just two runs on six hits in the win and did not issue a walk.

 

Softball Player of the Week
Brylee Bilger, Indiana Wesleyan
Bilger powered No. 16 Indiana Wesleyan to a 6-0 week by hitting .455 with five home runs, two doubles and one triple over 22 at bats. The junior also drove in 11 runs and scored seven of her own for the Wildcats.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Emmalee Hamp, Spring Arbor
Hamp logged 24 innings in the circle for Spring Arbor, going 3-0 with one save in her four outings. Hamp posted a 2.33 ERA over the four games, picking up 18 strikeouts.

 

Men’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Alvin Keter, Saint Francis
Keter posted a B-standard time for Saint Francis in the 10,000-meters, finishing fourth overall with a time of 31:10.16 at the Charlotte 49er Classic.

 

Women’s Outdoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Alex Ebetino, Saint Francis
Ebetino opened her outdoor season for USF at the Charlotte Classic, competing in the 10,000-meters and taking second with a time of 36:44.95. Ebetino’s time was third-best in USF history and automatically qualified the senior for NAIA Nationals.

 

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Marc Soriano, Marian

Soriano repeated as the CL’s top player, this time by winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for No. 24 Marian in a 7-0 team win over Indiana Tech.

 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Ana Barbosa Fernandez, Marian

Fernandez highlighted No. 22 Marian’s 7-0 sweep of Indiana Tech by winning 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 at No. 2 singles and also 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

 

Men’s Golfer of the Week
Nolan Potter, Marian

Potter led No. 21 Marian at the IU-Est Collegiate, carding scores of 77 and 68 in the two-round event.

 

Women’s Golfer of the Week
Shayne Lim, Taylor

Lim led No. 22 Taylor to a 36-shot team victory at the Baker Shootout, firing rounds of 78 and 79 to win individual medalist honors.
