Plesac leads Bethel baseball to split of Indiana Wesleayn

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Baseball squad (9-19, 4-14) started the Indiana Wesleyan University (19-9, 13-5) series Thursday afternoon and split games with the Wildcats.

GAME 1

The Pilots opened the game with a Dominic Deisler single RBI, which brought in Cooper Tolson, putting them up 1-0.

Bethel kept the runs coming. Elijah Gaines had a single RBI, which brought Jesse Stout home in the 4th.

Seth Ambrose also had a single RBI in the 5th, bringing in Andres Allred, and making the game 3-0 against IWU.

IWU scored late in the 8th, but Cooper Tolson matched that run, singled, and brought Ta’Shaun Coleman home to win the game 4-1.

Frank Plesac pitched eight innings with nine strikeouts, two walks, and nine hits.

GAME 2

It was 2-1 after the first, thanks to a Thomas Dolan double to bring Allred and Tolson home.

IWU then gained momentum and scored seven unanswered runs until Andrew Dillon singled and brought home Stout and Ambrose to make the game 8-4.

IWU would go on to win 13-5 after Allred scored on a wild pitch to give the Pilots one more run.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots will be at home as they continue to battle Indiana Wesleyan University on March 30th. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
