Titans baseball split doubleheader in day two versus Olivet Nazarene

GRANGER, Ind.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (17-27, 9-17) split their doubleheader against the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers (18-25, 15-11 CCAC) winning game one 5-2 before falling in game by 16-1.

Game 1

Olivet Nazarene took the lead by scoring a run in the second and another in the third to jump out to a 2-0 lead.

The Titans took the lead from the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring five runs on five hits.

Anthony Pohl got the Titans on the board with a solo home run before an RBI single from Gabe Cortez tied the game.

Donnie Necas three run home run put the Titans on top now leading 5-2.

The remainder of the game went scoreless and IU South Bend won game one of the doubleheader.

Game 2

Olivet Nazarene began their scoring in the second inning of game two hits scored three Tigers to put the Titans in an early deficit.

A second inning RBI double from Logan Smith plated Evan Fortson and proved to be the only Titan run in game two.

One run in the fourth, five in the fifth, and six more in the seventh ended game two early with the Titans falling 16-1.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Tuesday, April 23rd, when they travel to Joliet, Ill., for a doubleheader versus Saint Francis starting at 2:00 PM ET.
