2024 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship Semifinals Recap

MOBILE, Ala. –The 2024 NAIA Women’s Tennis National Championship match is set following Friday’s semifinal round in Mobile, Ala. as the action saw the top seed in Georgia Gwinnett and the No. 2 seed of Keiser (Fla.) advance to the championship final, set for Saturday afternoon at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The championship match between Georgia Gwinnett and Keiser marks the sixth consecutive season the two programs will battle for the NAIA Red Banner in women’s tennis.

 

Game Notes & Highlights

Play was briefly stalled during doubles action following light rain in Mobile, but quickly resumed.
After play resumed, both Georgia Gwinnett and Keiser (Fla.) managed wins across doubles play.
During the singles portion of each match, the weather returned and suspended play on two separate occasions, totaling just over six hours of delays. The two semifinal matches eventually resumed later on Friday night under the lights just past the 8:00 p.m. CT hour.
Shortly after the weather delay, Keiser picked up where they left off and cruised to a 4-0 shutout over (3) Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
The Seahawks claimed singles wins from the top three seeds in the lineup to advance to the title match on Saturday.
Georgia Gwinnett picked up a 4-1 victory later on Friday night, eliminating (4) Xavier (La.) in the process.
The Grizzlies make it 10-straight trips to the championship final following Friday’s semifinal result, looking to repeat as NAIA Women’s Tennis national champs for the eighth consecutive season.
The championship final will take place in Mobile, Ala., scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT, weather permitting.
