CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Indiana University Northwest men’s soccer team lost an 8-0 decision to Mount Mercy Saturday afternoon in the 2024 season opener.
The RedHawks (0-1-0) return to the pitch Wednesday evening when they travel to 2-0-0 Taylor for a 6 p.m. central time kick off.
IUN struggled to get its offense going against the Mustangs. The RedHawks got into the attacking third in the 16th minute and were awarded a corner kick. On the shot attempt, however, IUN was called for offside.
During second half action, Isaac Macias fired the RedHawks first shot attempt, but his look was stopped by the Mount Mercy keeper. Moments later, IUN took another corner kick but were once again whistled for offside.
In the closing moments Cesar Lopez took his chance to get the RedHawks on the scoreboard, but his shot was blocked by a MMU defender.
