NOTES:
Georgia picked up 50 of 54 first-place votes and remained No. 1 for the second consecutive week after defeating Clemson 34-3 in Week 1. The top ranking for Georgia marks the Bulldogs’ 36th appearance at No. 1 and the second most behind only Alabama’s 61 appearances in the top slot.
An SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in the poll 57 of the last 58 weeks dating back to Sept. 29, 2019.
Ohio State and Texas remained Nos. 2 and 3 after decisive victories in Week 1.
Notre Dame climbed three spots to No. 5 by virtue of its 23-13 victory at Texas A&M, marking the highest ranking for the Irish since holding the No. 5 ranking on Dec. 5, 2021.
Florida State fell out of the poll for the first time since Nov. 20, 2022 after an 0-2 record during the first two weekends of the season.
Clemson and LSU also fell out of the poll completely after suffering losses in Week 1.
Miami (FL), USC and Oklahoma State joined the poll for the first time this season, claiming the Nos. 10, 12 and 16 spots, respectively. Miami’s appearance in the poll is the first since Sept. 11, 2022 and their highest ranking since taking the No. 8 spot on Aug. 20, 2018.
The SEC leads all conferences with seven teams, followed by the Big Ten with five, Big 12 with two and the ACC and FBS Independents with one each.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2024 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 3 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 8. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
