Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | September 30-October 6

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from September 30 through October 6. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Lyssi Snouffer, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Snouffer posted 15 kills in 40 swings and added two aces, 17 digs and two blocks for No. 16 Mount Vernon Nazarene in its four-set win over USF.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Lyssi Snouffer, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Snouffer led No. 16 MVNU to a four-set win over Saint Francis with 17 digs and two blocks in the contest. Snouffer also slammed 15 kills and added two aces in the victory.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Abbigail Porter, Indiana Wesleyan

Porter continued her strong campaign with 11.6 assists per set over a trio of wins for No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan. Porter set a new career-high with 63 helpers in a five-set win over Cornerstone and finished the week with 128 assists.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Regan Ramirez, Spring Arbor
Ramirez had two goals, two assists and six points in two lopsided wins for No. 8 Spring Arbor. The senior midfielder had two assists in a 7-1 win over Goshen and then scored twice in a 7-1 win against Huntington.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Brianna Rawlings, Taylor
Rawlings made eight saves in a 1-0 shutout victory for Taylor over No. 10 Marian and finished the week with two wins in goal, 11 saves and just one goal allowed in 180 minutes of work.

 

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Manuel Garcia, Bethel
Garcia netted three goals in the first half of No. 3 Bethel’s 4-0 win over Saint Francis. Garcia scored on all three shot attempts he took for the Pilots.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Cristini, Spring Arbor
Cristini helped RV Spring Arbor to a pair of wins, allowing just one goal in 180 minutes of action and picking up nine saves for the Cougars.

 

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Katie Woods, Marian
Woods led RV Marian to a fifth-place team finish by taking 25th-of-231 finishers at the Master’s Invite. Woods crossed with a time of 22:54 to pace the Knights.

 

Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Tristan Trevino, Marian
Trevino ran a personal-best time of 24:53 for Marian at the Master’s Invite, finishing 15th overall out of 234 competitors.

 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Kenzie Abdelaal, Bethel
Abdelaal led RV Bethel to its first-ever CL Tournament Championship by going a combined 5-0 in three postseason matches for the Pilots. Abdelaal’s 7-4, 4-6, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles in the title match was the clinching point for BU’s championship.

 

Men’s Tennis Player of the Week
Pablo Gregori, Grace
Gregori led No. 20 Grace to a third-straight Crossroads League Tournament Championship by going a combined 5-0 at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Lancers in three postseason matches.
