Big Ten Conference announces 2024 Postseason Women’s SOccer Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill.- The Big Ten Conference has announced the 2024 Women’s Soccer All-Big Ten Teams and individual honors. Votes from the conference’s 18 head coaches decided the honors. Four Badgers made this year’s list.

Sophomore Hailey Baumann earned Second Team (defense). Baumann started in and played every match of the season, racking up 1,520 minutes of playing time. She had one goal and three assists in regular-season play. This is Baumann’s third Big Ten honor after being named to the All-Freshman Team and Third Team (defense) in the 2023 season.

Graduate student Aryssa Mahrt earned Third Team (forward). Mahrt led the Badgers in goals scored with nine in the regular season. She had 36 shots-on-goal in the regular season, earning a season-high two goals in a game on Aug. 22, then tying it days later on the 29th.
Senior Ashley Martinez also saw Third Team (Midfield) honors. Martinez tallied seven assists and two goals on the season. On Oct. 17 she assisted on three goals and scored one of her own in a 5-0 win over Maryland.

Finally, Senior Riley Philbin earned Sportsmanship honors. The Big Ten distributes 18 of these awards. The student-athletes must be individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
Due to inclement weather, the opening round of the tournament will take place on Friday, Nov. 1, with the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 2, and Monday, Nov. 4. Saturday’s matches between No. 5 Rutgers and No. 4 Michigan State and No. 6 Washington and No. 3 Iowa are unaffected.
