The Holy Cross College women’s basketball team delivered an exceptional performance, securing a commanding 127-53 victory over Calumet on Saturday. The Saints executed efficiently on both ends of the court, showcasing sharp ball movement, consistent shooting, and relentless defensive pressure. This score also breaks the points total in a game record at the school!
Holy Cross came out, shooting an impressive 56.2% from the field and 53.3% from beyond the arc. The team’s balanced scoring attack saw five players reach double figures.
Leading the charge was La’Bria Austin (Buchanan, Michigan / Buchanan High School), who came off the bench to score 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. Kayliana Hammel (New Haven, Indiana / Bishop Dwenger High School)  and Grace Adams (Elkhart, Indiana / Penn High School) each contributed 19 points, with Adams also converting 5-of-6 free throws.
Audrey Tallent (Plainfield, Indiana / Plainfield High School) added 14 points, while Lilly Toppen (DeMotte, Indiana / Kankakee Valley High School) tallied 15 points, sinking five three-pointers. Allie Caldwell (Zionsville, Indiana / Zionsville High School) and Brooke Lindesmith (Crown Point, Indiana / Crown Point High School) chipped in 10 points apiece, demonstrating the team’s depth and ability to spread the floor effectively.
Defensively, the Saints controlled the boards with 43 total rebounds, led by Elizabeth Edmonds (Argos, Indiana / Argos High School) with eight boards, and Carly Spradling (Canal Fulton, Ohio / Northwest High School) with 8 rebounds for the Saints. The team also forced 31 turnovers, turning defensive stops into transition opportunities and easy buckets in the open court.
The win improves Holy Cross’s record to 7-5 and highlights their strong execution as they continue their season. The Saints will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup on December 31st, at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana where they take on Grace College.
