IUSB Women’s Basketball falls at University of Saint Francis, 65-59

JOLIET, Ill.- The Indiana University South Bend Titans (15-5, 8-5 CCAC) fell on the road to the University of Saint Francis Saints (17-4, 10-3 CCAC) by a final score 65-59.

IU South Bend and Saint Francis were neck and neck through the first quarter, trading baskets throughout the period until a last second Saints layup gave them a 15-13 lead through the end of one quarter of play.

The second quarter belonged to Saint Francis, as they outscored the Titans 21-11 to take a 36-24 lead heading into halftime.

Indiana University South Bend came out of the locker room in the second half firing on all cylinders, scoring the first 10 points of the third quarter to bring the Titans within two points. A Kenzie Fulks made three pointer tied the game at 43-43 with just over two minutes to play in the third quarter.

IU South Bend tied the game again early in the fourth quarter but could never gain the lead and ultimately fell on the road to Saint Francis by a final score of 65-59.

The IU South Bend offense featured two players to score in double figures, led by guard Jazmen Watts who finished with 15 points.

Watts’ 15 points came on just under 50% shooting from the field while knocking down two three point field goals and playing in a team high 33 minutes.

The other Titan to record double figures in the scoring column was senior guard Sullivan Kessler who finished with 10 points.

Kessler reached doubled figures for the sixth time this season thanks to nearly 50% shooting from the field while also hauling in three rebounds.

The Indiana University South Bend Titans return to action on Saturday, February 1st, when they travel to University Park, Ill., to take on the Jaguars of Governors State University at 2:00 PM ET.
