Ohio State and Oregon Earn Big Ten Softball Weekly Awards
Buckeyes’ Farley and Ducks’ Grein and McCoy earn weekly recognition

Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Farley, Ohio State
Sr. – INF – Encinitas, Calif. – La Costa Canyon – Major: Human Development & Family Science

  • Hit a team-best .667 with three home runs, six RBI and a 1.333 slugging percentage as Ohio State went 4-0 on the weekend
  • Had at least one hit in all four games and multiple hits in three of four games
  • Went 4-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a five-inning win over Cornell
  • Hit home runs in wins versus Siena and North Florida
  • Four of her 10 hits on the weekend went for extra bases, reaching base in 11 of her 16 plate appearances

Pitcher of the Week

Lyndsey Grein, Oregon
Jr. – RHP – Mokena, Ill. – Lincoln-Way Central – Major: Psychology

  • Grein threw 18.0 shutout innings and won four games to lead Oregon to a 5-0 record at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic
  • Pitched in all five games and allowed five hits while striking out 24 and opposing batters hit .088 against her
  • Pitched the final 3.1 innings against No. 5 Tennessee, striking out five and allowing no hits in the Ducks’ 1-0 win in eight innings
  • In 4.2 innings in relief against No. 22 Missouri, Grein went 4.1 innings and gave up one hit while striking out eight
  • Struck out six, walked none and allowed just one hit in the Ducks’ 2-0 win over Utah
  • Grein has not allowed a run in her last seven appearances (24.1 innings) and is 9-0 on the season, leading the NCAA in victories

  • McCoy hit four home runs to lead Oregon to a 5-0 record at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic
  • Hit two homers in the Ducks’ 11-3 win over No. 22 Missouri and had home runs against California and Utah
  • McCoy hit .438 for the tournament (7-of-16), tallied seven RBI, a pair of extra base hits and slugged 1.313
