Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | February 24-March 2

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from February 24 through March 2. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Lilly Frasure, Indiana Wesleyan
Frasure returned to the lineup for No. 4 IWU without missing a beat and netted 22.5 points, 7.5 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per night in the first two rounds of the CL Tournament. Frasure also shot 57.6 percent from the floor.

 

Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Abbey McNally, Marian
McNally was at it again, averaging 15.5 rebounds per game with 10.0 defensive caroms per outing. The junior center also swatted two blocks a game and added 19.0 points to power No. 12 Marian past MVNU and No. 9 USF and into the CL Tourney Championship game.

 

Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Ian Scott, Grace

Scott did it all for No. 7 Grace to help the Lancers into the CL Tournament Championship game. The senior forward averaged 21.0 points and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting 73.9 percent from the floor and adding 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per win.

 

Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Ian Scott, Grace
Scott helped No. 7 Grace past MVNU and RV Indiana Wesleyan with great all-around play. On the defensive end, Scott averaged 9.0 rebounds 3.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per win, while adding 21.0 points and 4.5 assists.

 

Baseball Player of the Week
Mason David, Taylor

David homered four times in a doubleheader sweep of Grace, helping TU post 34 runs in the twin bill. The All-American finished the day with five hits in seven at bats, four homers and six runs batted in.

 

Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Gabel Pentecost, Taylor

Pentecost carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a shutout victory over Grace. The junior ace whiffed 11 Lancers, allowed just one hit and one walk over 6.1 innings and took the win on the bump.

 

Softball Player of the Week
Livie Lehmann, Taylor

Lehmann’s bat powered Taylor to a 5-1 start to the season by hitting .478 with three home runs, five doubles, 11 runs scored and 11 runs driven in over six contests.

 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
Kinzie Mollenkopf, Huntington

Mollenkopf went 3-0 in the circle for HU, firing 20 innings and not yielding an earned run. The sophomore allowed just three hits and one unearned tally, while striking out 21 and posting a 0.40 WHIP.

 

Men’s Golfer of the Week
Weston Ogden, Marian

Ogden fired rounds of 70, 75 and 68 to finish fourth-of-81 at the Oldfield Classic.

 

Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
France Antezana, Indiana Wesleyan

Antezana earned a pair of wins at No. 1 singles for Indiana Wesleyan against No. 21 Cumberlands and No. 15 Union. Antezana also posted a win at No. 1 doubles against Union.
