Texas edges Oklahoma to reclaim No. 1 in NFCA/GoRout DI Top 25 Coaches Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Texas reclaimed the top spot over Oklahoma by a mere one point in this week’s 2025 NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Longhorns (31-2) and Sooners (29-1) collected 16 and 14 first-place votes respectively with the former coming out one point ahead, 757-756. No. 4 Florida captured the other first-place vote.

The top-ranked Longhorns return after two weeks at No. 2. They had their 17-game win streak snapped on March 17 at No. 4 Florida, but bounced back with a three-game sweep of then No. 23 Auburn.

The Sooners opened the week with an 8-0 win over East Texas A&M before taking two-of-three at Missouri. OU’s 2025 undefeated start to the season was snapped in game two against the Tigers (18-15) at 28, along with its 31-game win streak.

Texas and OU were two of seven programs – (RV) Austin Peay (24), No. 3 LSU (14), No. 23 FAU (11), (RV) Liberty (11), No. 7 UCLA (10) –  either ranked or received votes that had double-digit win streaks ended.

The remaining ranked program with a double-digit win streak is No. 13 Stanford (23-3) at 11 games, which is currently tied for the second-longest active streak in Division I.

LSU’s 14-game win streak came to an end in the series finale at then-No. 3 Georgia. The Tigers (29-2) opened with 5-3 and 10-2 victories before the Bulldogs (23-8) avoided a sweep with an 11-3 run-rule triumph.

Florida (30-4) and Texas A&M (26-5) stayed put at No. 4 and 5. The Gators (30-4), along with Texas, were the first Division I programs to ascend to 30 wins in 2025 with a 3-0 week, while the Aggies took two-of-three from (RV) Alabama in College Station.

Oregon (29-3) jumped to No. 6 as it collected a Big Ten series sweep of Illinois with UCLA and Florida State sharing the No. 7 ranking. The Bruins (28-5) split a Big 10 twinbill at Iowa, while the Seminoles (29-5) have won nine straight after earning a road win at Alabama and sweeping then-No. 19 Duke in ACC action last week.

No. 9 Tennessee and No. 10 South Carolina make up the rest of the top 10. The Lady Vols (26-6) dropped their league series at home to new-No. 12 Arkansas, while the Gamecocks (24-6) grabbed two-of-three from then-No. 12 Texas Tech (24-9) in a 11 vs. 12 non-conference matchup in Columbia.

Previously-mentioned Stanford made the biggest jump improving four positions following a three-game sweep at Notre Dame.

Coming off an ACC-series win over (RV) California, Virginia joins the rankings at No. 24 this week. The Cavaliers (24-8) went 3-1 overall last week and are 8-2 in their last 10 games. Grand Canyon (23-6), after making its national debut last week, fell out after suffering a 1-3 week, which included an extra-inning loss to then-No. 10 Arizona.
