2025 Men’s Volleyball All-Conference Honors Announced
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) has announced its 2024-25 Men’s Volleyball awards. All-Conference teams are selected by a vote of conference head coaches. First and Second Teams consist of 14 members each. The All-Freshman team consists of six players. Individual awards include Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Libero of the Year, Setter of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Champion of Character Coach.

Player of the Year & Newcomer of the Year: Nestor Addah, Lawrence Tech

Nestor Addah stormed onto the WHAC scene this season. The graduate student appeared in all 16 conference matches, helping the Blue Devils to their first-ever regular season title. The native of Navrongo, Ghana tallied 212 kills, 4.00 kills per set, a league-leading .370 hitting percentage and 16 service aces in conference action. He ranks in the top-ten nationally in kills, total attacks, total attacks per set, hitting percentage and service aces. Addah is the first Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year in Lawrence Tech men’s volleyball history.

Libero of the Year: Brayden Moyars (Lourdes)

Brayden Moyars becomes the first Libero of the Year for the Lourdes Men’s Volleyball program. The sophomore from McCordsville, Ind. led the WHAC in digs (215), digs per set (3.77) and was fourth in receptions (325). He was selected as the WHAC Defensive Player of the Week an impessive five times in 2024-25 including three consecutive to end the season.

Setter of the Year: Pedro Aguiar (Lawrence Tech)

Another key component to the regular season succes of the Blue Devils was freshman setter, Pedro Aguiar. The Rio de Janeiro native led the league in assists (578), assists per set (11.12) and was top-ten in digs and digs per set. He ranks first nationally in assists per set and second in total digs. He is the first Blue Devil to claim Setter of the Year honors.

Coach of the Year: Jacob Paige (Lawrence Tech)

Coach Paige led Lawrence Tech to a perfect 16-0 conference record, the first undefeated conference mark since Lourdes went 8-0 in 2019. His efforts led the team to the top seed in the upcoming tournament and have them ranked No. 3 in the nation in the most recent poll. He is the first Coach of the Year recipient for Lawrence Tech Men’s Volleyball.

Champion of Character Coach: Doug Sherer (Mount Vernon Nazarene Univeristy)

For the fifth-consecutive season, Mount Vernon Nazarene Head Coach, Dough Sherer has been selected by his peers as the Champion of Character Coach. This award honors the coach who best adheres to the NAIA’s Five Core Values of: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership and Sportsmanship. He has led the Cougars since 2019.

In addition to the All-Conference awards, the WHAC also announced its All-Academic and Champions of Character teams. The All-Academic Team consists of sophomores or above with a cumulative 3.25 GPA who have been at their school for one full year. The Champions of Character Team comprises one player from each school who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
