SXU Softball Looks To Continue Winning Streak At CCAC Tournament

CROWN POINT, Ind. — NAIA No. 17-ranked Saint Xavier University will look to continue its undefeated run against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference competition when the 2025 league tournament kicks off at the Crown Point Sportsplex on Thursday afternoon.

The Cougars, winners of 26 games in a row against CCAC teams dating back to last year, are the odds-on favorite to capture their fifth consecutive tournament crown after going a perfect 16-0 during the league’s regular season.

Looking to knock Saint Xavier (33-6) off its perch will be the five other teams in the double-elimination tournament: No. 2 seed University of St. Francis (19-18), No. 3 St. Ambrose University (25-18), No. 4 Olivet Nazarene University (23-17), No. 5 Indiana University South Bend (13-28) and No. 6 Calumet College of St. Joseph (15-25).

The three-day tournament opens with a pair of 3 pm matchups.  Indiana South Bend and Olivet Nazarene square off in one contest, while Calumet St. Joseph faces St. Ambrose.

SXU and St. Francis both earn first-round byes by virtue of their top two seeds.  They begin play Thursday night at 5 pm with Saint Xavier awaiting the winner of the IUSB-ONU confrontation and St. Francis pairing up with the victor of the CCSJ-SAU contest.

The tournament continues with four more games on Friday followed by the championship round on Saturday.

The winner advances to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round May 12-15 at one of ten sites.

The Crown Points Sportsplex and Calumet College of St. Joseph will again serve as this year’s tournament hosts
