Big Ten Announces 2025 Softball Postseason Honors

Bahl becomes first-ever Big Ten player to earn Player and Pitcher of the Year recognition

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced the 2025 All-Big Ten Softball Teams and individual awards on Friday. Nebraska, Washington and Oregon earned individual accolades through a vote of the conference’s 17 head coaches.

Junior pitcher and utility player Jordy Bahl became the first-ever Big Ten player to be named Player and Pitcher of the Year in the same season. Bahl joins Michigan’s Sara Griffin and Nikki Nemitz and Minnesota’s Sara Groenewegen as one of four players in Big Ten history to earn both honors in their respective careers.

Bahl currently ranks in the top 15 nationally in 12 different statistical categories and boasts a batting average of .467 on the season, which ranks ninth nationally. Bahl contributed 59 runs, 70 hits, 59 RBI, 16 doubles and 19 home runs during the regular season and is the first Husker in school history to record 15 doubles and 15 home runs in the same season.

Washington’s Alexis DeBoer was named Freshman of the Year after leading the Huskies with a .372 batting average, 55 hits, 54 RBI, 20 home runs and a .851 slugging percentage. DeBoer was named one of the top 10 finalists for the NFCA’s National Freshman of the Year and is just the fifth Husky overall to be named to the list.

Oregon’s Melyssa Lombardi was named Coach of the Year after leading the Ducks to a Big Ten Championship with a 47-6 overall record and a 19-3 mark in conference play, earning the No. 1 seed in this year’s Big Ten Tournament.

In addition to the individual award winners, the Big Ten announced an All-Big Ten First and Second Team, nine student-athletes for the All-Defensive Team and 11 chosen for the All-Freshman team.

The Big Ten also announced the 17 Sportsmanship Award honorees from each institution. The student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These student-athletes must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sport-competition setting.
