2025 Week 6 (Oct. 5) FWAA-NFF Super 16 Rankings

NOTES:
Penn State and Texas suffered upsets to unranked teams with combined records of 1-7 entering the week and tumbled from No. 7 and No. 9, respectively, to completely out of the Super 16 Poll. But the top six teams remained intact, with only Oklahoma moving around Texas A&M. Miami (Fla.) and Alabama secured the most important victories.

Some things don’t change, however, and Ohio State for a sixth straight week remained No. 1 with a 42-3 victory over Minnesota in another defensive masterpiece. The Buckeyes secured 42 first-place votes, followed by No. 2 Oregon (five first-place votes) and No. 3 Miami (Fla.) (nine first-place votes).

Penn State lost to previously winless UCLA and a coach in his first head coaching appearance, and Texas lost at Florida against the Gators that had zero FBS victories before Saturday. Both Penn State and Texas fell out of the Top 16 for the first time since the 2022 season.

Meanwhile, Miami (Fla.) withstood Florida State’s late charge, 28-22, and Alabama overcame Vanderbilt, 30-14, in a game between two ranked teams that cost the Commodores a spot in the poll this week. Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Georgia and Texas Tech all picked up routine victories to remain in the poll, with the Red Raiders (No. 10) garnering their highest ranking in the history of the poll. Five ranked teams were idle this past Saturday: Oregon, Mississippi, Indiana, LSU and Tennessee.

Iowa State lost to Cincinnati and also dropped out of the poll, which welcomed four new teams this week: Georgia Tech, Missouri, Michigan and Notre Dame. Georgia Tech and Missouri are in the Top 16 for the first time this season.
.
The SEC led all conferences with eight teams in the poll, followed by the Big Ten with four and the ACC with two, the Big 12 one and Independents one.
