ONU’s Miller, IUSB’s Cotton Earn Week 11 Women’s Soccer Recognition

CHICAGO — Playing a role in better than half of her team’s goals during the seven-day period ending Nov. 2, Olivet Nazarene University’s Melea Miller (Bloomington, Ind.) has claimed Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Indiana University South Bend’s Rylee Cotton (Hobart, Ind.) used a pair of clean sheets to garner the league’s defensive recognition, it was announced on Tuesday morning.

Miller totaled four goals and one assist in a pair of wins last week.  The senior forward opened the seven-day period with a hat trick (three goals) last Wednesday in a 5-0 decision over Governors State University.  She also had the game-winning goal in that contest.

Miller added another goal and one assist on Saturday when the Tigers posted a 3-0 victory over Judson University.

ONU finished the regular season unbeaten both overall (9-0-6) and in the conference (7-0-5) and enters the CCAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed.

Cotton had a busy week with her three appearances in goal, of which two were shutouts.  She finished the stretch with 24 saves, or an average of 8.0 per match.

The junior goalkeeper stopped eight shots in a 3-0 victory over Calumet College of St. Joseph last Monday.  Her other blanking, her fourth of the season, came on Saturday in a 1-0 victory over Mount Mary University, where she totaled four saves.

Cotton matched those two efforts combined on Wednesday with her 12-save performance in a 3-2 loss to University of St. Francis.

Indiana South Bend’s 2-1 week left the Titans with a final record of 4-11-3 overall and 2-8-2 in the CCAC.

Other Offensive Nominees: Katie Coleman (Indiana South Bend), Brynlee Kelly (Viterbo), Frances Parks (Holy Cross), Veronica Davila (Saint Xavier), Ava Haluska (Indiana Northwest).

Other Defensive Nominees: Meegan Randall (Olivet Nazarene), Michelle Urribarri (Trinity Christian), Janiah Juarez (Holy Cross).
