The Holy Cross College men’s basketball team opened the IUNW Classic in dramatic fashion Friday night, securing an 89–81 overtime victory over IU Columbus to improve to 3–1 on the season.
The Saints showed grit and composure throughout a tightly contested game that featured eight ties and four lead changes. After trailing 38–37 at halftime, Holy Cross battled back in the second half behind steady guard play and timely shot-making. Jayden Sanders‘ late free throws and defensive effort helped push the game into overtime tied at 75–75.
Once in the extra period, the Saints took full control. Holy Cross outscored IU Columbus 14–6 in overtime, shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while locking in defensively.
Jayden Sanders delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 25 points, including going 10-of-11 from the free-throw line and knocking down a crucial three in overtime.
AJ Roseman added 22 points and 7 rebounds, proving to be a steady offensive force all night.
Donovan Waleskowski filled the stat sheet with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, while Beau Barhams controlled the tempo with 9 points, 9 assists, and 9 rebounds, just shy of a triple-double.
Asher Puhalski and Davide Brembilla also provided essential sparks off the bench, combining for 14 points on efficient shooting.
With the 1–0 start in the Classic, the Saints now turn their attention to Saturday’s game at 1 PM, where they’ll look to carry their momentum into a strong weekend finish!
