NOTES:
For only the second time in the history of the poll, the nation’s top five teams remained in the same order for the third consecutive week. The other instance occurred during the 2023 season, when Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, and Washington held the same top five spots three weeks in a row.

Ohio State received 49 of 56 first-place votes and remained No. 1 for the 11th consecutive week following a 34-10 win at Purdue. The Buckeyes’ streak of holding the nation’s top spot is the longest in school history. An SEC member has not been ranked in the top two for the seventh consecutive week, marking the conference’s longest such streak since the 2015 season, when the SEC was left out of the top two for nine straight weeks.

Texas Tech moved up two spots to No. 7 after a 22-point home victory against BYU, matching the Red Raiders’ highest ranking in the poll. The Big 12 school also claimed the No. 7 spot earlier this season on October 12. BYU fell four places to No. 12 following the loss in Lubbock.

Virginia and Louisville fell out of the poll after suffering home losses. Utah and Miami (Fla.) rejoined the rankings at Nos. 15 and 16, respectively.

The SEC led all conferences with seven teams, followed by the Big 12 and Big Ten with three each, the ACC with two, and the FBS Independents with one.

NEXT WEEK’S SCHEDULE:
UCLA at No. 1 Ohio State
Wisconsin at No. 2 Indiana
South Carolina at No. 3 Texas A&M

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2025 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 2 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 7. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems, a TicketManager company, to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
