SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – IU South Bend women’s basketball turned in one of its most complete performances of the young season Wednesday night, defeating Lawrence Tech 91-83 on the road to even its record at 2-2.
Instead of a single breakout scorer, the Titans spread the production across the lineup. Bradie Chambers led the charge with 25 points and eight rebounds, while Kenzie Fulks was exceptional from the line, scoring 22 points on 5-of-7 shooting and a near-perfect 11-for-12 from the stripe. Keylee Hudson poured in a season-high 20 points off the bench, and Lindsay Arcella added five rebounds and key defensive plays with two blocks.
IU South Bend (2-2) shot an efficient 50.8 percent from the field and knocked down 25 of 29 free throws. The Titans held a 50-32 advantage in the paint, using their size and pace to wear down the Blue Devils (1-4) across four quarters.
After trading baskets through the first half, the two teams entered the halftime break locked at 45 apiece. The third quarter saw the Blue Devils push ahead by nine but the Titans brought it back within three before the final stanza.
IUSB kicked off the fourth with five points to take its first since early in the third quarter. With the game in balance, the two teams continued to go back and forth until three minutes to go, as LTU led 80-76. The Titans erupted with a 15–3 run fueled by Fulks’ 12 points, including seven free throws from the sophomore.
Defensively, the Titans came up big late, holding Lawrence Tech to just 37.5 percent shooting in the final quarter after the hosts had connected on 57.1 percent in the third. IUSB forced 11 turnovers overall and scored 17 points off them while limiting LTU’s fast-break opportunities.
Freshman forward Andrea Benefield contributed six points and hit four clutch free throws down the stretch in her first career start. The freshman helped seal the win as the Titans outscored the Blue Devils 28-17 in the final period.
IU South Bend will now jump into conference play, hosting St. Ambrose on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Student Activities Center.
