MISHAWAKA, Ind. —The Bethel Pilots (5-1, 0-1) fell 73-60 to the No. 4 Marian University Knights (6-0, 1-0) on Wednesday evening in the Gates Gymnasium.
Mariah Claywell (13 pts) recorded two new season highs, posting eight defensive rebounds while shooting 3-5 (60%) from beyond the arc.
Isabel Scales (13 pts) led the team in steals (two) and shot 9-10 from the charity stripe (90%).
Gracie Lambes (13 pts) posted the highest number of assists (three).
Bethel’s most competitive showing came in the fourth, as the Pilots totaled 19 points while Marian recorded 17.
In the fourth, Freshman Luvrain Gaskins scored the first Pilot points with a layup (6:47), assisted by Mariah Claywell.
Isabel Scales followed with a fast break layup (6:19), and ended the quarter with four successful free throws (1:00, 0:15).
The Bethel Pilots will next face the Goshen College Maple Leafs (1-7, 0-1) on Sat, Nov. 22 in the Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 1 PM.
