KOKOMO, Ind. —The Bethel Pilots (7-1, 1-1) defeated the Indiana University Kokomo Cougars (3-3, 0-0) on Tuesday evening at the Cougar Gym.
The win marks Bethel’s highest scoring game against the Cougars since Nov. 9th, 2021, when the Pilots prevailed 91-70 on the road.
Isabel Scales shot 75% from the field (6-8), showcasing her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 boards. Scales hit her first double-double in the Pilots’ home opener against Holy Cross on Oct. 30 (12 points, 11 rebounds).
The IHSAA’s Record Holder for Career Three’s, Olivia Nickerson*, totaled 15 points while shooting 4-6 (66%) beyond the arc.
Freshman Izzy Nooe also hit double digits (ten points scored), while leading Bethel in assists (five).
Mariah Claywell totaled seven boards and ten points.Claywell put the first Bethel points on the board (3-0) with a shot from downtown (9:03), assisted by Isabel Scales.
After the first quarter, Bethel held the lead for the entirety of the match.
Throughout the game, the Pilots nearly quintupled their three-point shots made (nine) to the Cougars’ two.
Dominique Stilley opened up the second quarter with a three (9:24), assisted by Isabel Scales, as the Pilots led 19-12.
Mariah Claywell sent the Pilots into halftime with her own three-pointer (1:10), assisted by Olivia Nickerson (37-30).
In the final quarter of the evening, Justyce Williams showcased her offensive consistency. The sophomore totaled six points in 44 seconds of action with a jumper, a pair at the charity stripe, and a layup off of her own steal (74-56).

The Pilots will next host the Taylor University Trojans on Wed, Dec. 3 at 5 PM in the Gates Gymnasium.
