Turnovers Doom Purdue Women’s Basketball at Nebraska

Nebraska scored 16 points off turnovers Wednesday

LINCOLN, Neb. – Turnovers and foul trouble got the Boilermakers off to a slow start from which they couldn’t recover Wednesday as they fell on the road at Nebraska 75-51. The Boilermakers saw a three-game win streak snapped, falling to 13-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while Nebraska improved to 15-6 (6-2 Big Ten).

Two early fouls on sophomores Dominique Oden and Ae’Rianna Harris forced to Boilermakers into their shallow bench and the Cornhuskers capitalized, going on a 13-2 run to finish the second quarter and take a 29-18 advantage into the half.

Purdue pulled within eight early in the third quarter, getting a triple from freshman Karissa McLaughlin and a bucket from Harris, but the scoring fell off for the Boilermakers and Nebraska capitalized with an 8-0 run to push the lead as high as 18 in the third.

Nebraska squashed any hope of a fourth quarter comeback with red hot shooting, hitting 73 percent in the final 10 minutes to pull away.

Despite being limited to 28 minutes due to foul trouble, Oden finished with a team-high 16 points, while senior Andreona Keys had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Harris was the only other Boilermaker in double figures with 11.

Purdue returns home Sunday for its annual Pink Zone game and Alumni Day, hosting Penn State at noon in Mackey Arena.
