Indiana Falls To Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Despite 37 points from senior guard Shay Ciezki, Indiana women’s basketball came up short at Purdue, 80-69, on Sunday afternoon at Mackey Arena.
KEY MOMENTS
- Ciezki and redshirt sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont combined to score all of IU’s 15 first quarter points as Indiana took a 15-11 lead.
- The Hoosiers (11-10, 0-9 B1G) were unable to stop a second quarter push by Purdue as it scored 30 points in the period and take a 41-29 lead at the half.
- In the third, Ciezki cut the deficit to as few as seven as she connected on three free throws, but Purdue (11-9, 3-6 B1G) constantly had answers on the offensive end.
- Working with a 62-54 deficit after three, the Hoosiers hit just three shots in the fourth
NOTABLE
- Ciezki finished with 37 points, her fifth game with 30-plus points this season. She hit five 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.
- Beaumont added 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
- Freshman guard Nevaeh Caffey added seven points and four assists while senior guard Jerni Kiaku had six points.
- Caffey, Beaumont and Ciezki had two steals each.
