Adams Leads TU to Dominant Sweep Over Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. – Amanda Adams secured her fifth-straight double-digit kill performance on Saturday, helping the Trojans take down Goshen (0-4, 0-4 CL) in a 25-17, 25-16, 25-13 victory. Taylor (2-4, 2-3 CL) was in control throughout the afternoon, on the way to its first road win of 2020.

Senior Adams notched a team-high 13 kills on 26 attempts for a .346 hitting percentage. The outside hitter has been on a roll this season, leading the Crossroads League averaging just over four kills per set.

TU’s setter, Kacy Bragg, instigated the offense with 26 of the team’s 32 total assists. The sophomore also sits atop the Crossroads League, boasting 10.0 assists per set on the year.

In all three sets, the Purple and Gold utilized a five-point swing to create separation once Goshen reached seven or eight points. TU leads ballooned from 10-7 to 17-9, 11-8 to 17-9 and 14-8 to 20-9 in the first, second and third sets, respectively.

The best run of the afternoon came in the second set with Taylor scoring eight-consecutive points. The flurry of points came in many different ways, as the TU squad posted two aces, two blocks and two kills, while taking advantage of two GC errors.

Leading the effort in the back row, Adams picked up 11 digs for her second double-double of the season. Savannah Strieter was a defensive force at the net, collecting a career-best five blocks on Saturday.

As a team, TU recorded 10 aces with five different Trojans landing at least one. Nikki Parrett offered her best service performance of the season with four aces.

TU will be back in action on Wednesday in a road matchup against Spring Arbor (2-2, 2-2 CL) at 7:00 pm.
