Bethel Athletics Earns Over 100 Honors at NAIA National Awards Day

KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced its National Awards for the 2019-20 academic year on Tuesday as part of its annual NAIA National Awards Day. The day recognizes the association’s highest individual honors and achievements of NAIA student-athletes, administrators and coaches.

The NAIA announced 22 national award honorees in addition to over 10,000 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes and over 2,000 NAIA Scholar Teams. Additionally, the association announced the seven-member class of the 2020-21 NAIA Hall of Fame.

Bethel Athletics was recognized with 20 NAIA Scholar Team awards as well as 83 NAIA Scholar Athletes. The women’s tennis team took home the highest GPA in the Bethel athletic department—and 12th-highest overall in the Crossroads League—with a 3.688 GPA as a team, while the men’s golf team earned the highest GPA among men’s teams at Bethel with a 3.568 team GPA.

“So proud of our student athletes and their coaches who have been rewarded for their grit and focus both in the classroom and in athletic competition as 20 teams and 83 athletes have received the honor of NAIA Scholar Teams/NAIA Scholar Athletes,” stated Bethel Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Kent Eby. “What a great testament to our athletes, coaches, faculty, and staff who work hard to be successful in the classroom and in their specific sport. Congratulations to all on a job well done!”
