Bethel Baseball posts 10-7 win over Huntington to break two year losing streak

Huntington, Ind. –The Bethel Pilots (10-12, 5-9) defeated the Huntington University Foresters (9-15, 4-10) 10-7 on Friday at Forest Glen Park in the second matchup of the day.
With this win, the Pilots broke their six-game losing streak to the Foresters. Bethel last triumphed over Huntington on March 24, 2023, in Jenkins Stadium.
GAME ONE
The Foresters’ defense shrunk against the Bethel lineup in the top of the first.
Elijah Gaines reached after an error by the shortstop, and he advanced to second after Jesse Stout was walked.
Jordan Landkrohn reached first following an error by Huntington’s third baseman.
With the bases loaded, Corbin Greenslade smacked a double to center to bring in each Pilot baserunner (3-0).
Angel Alicia Colon took advantage of his first plate appearance as a Pilot, recording a double to right field to bring in Logan Bevier (who pinch-ran for Greenslade).
The Pilots concluded the first inning up 4-0.
Pitcher Noah Borwege further challenged the Foresters in the bottom of the first, yielding zero hits to Huntington.
In the fifth inning, and with runners at each corner, Corbin Greenslade brought Gaines in with a base hit (5-3).
Jordan Landkrohn put the final run on the board for the inning and the game, returning home after a passed ball by the catcher (6-3).
In the bottom of the eighth, a home run by Huntington secured the game for the Foresters (7-6).
Noah Borwege pitched for six innings, struck out five batters, and threw a total of 123 pitches.
Luke Mast pitched for two innings, struck out one batter, and threw a total of 35 pitches.
GAME TWO
In the first inning of the game, Huntington claimed an early 1-0 lead.
Angel Alicia Colon put Bethel on base with a walk, demonstrating consistency at the plate in his debut game.
Hudson Francis then singled to center, placing Colon in scoring position.
Adam Walters doubled through the right side to bring in Colon for his first run as a Pilot, put the first Bethel run on the board (1-0), and advanced Francis to third.
With a double through the left side, Elijah Gaines brought in Francis and Walters to give the Pilots a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Elijah Gaines repeated his first-inning performance with another double that allowed Francis and Walters to score (5-2).
In the fifth inning, Dylan Cook brought Landkrohn home with a single to center, increasing Bethel’s lead to 6-2.
In the top of the sixth, Jesse Stout, Elijah Gaines, Jordan Landkrohn, and Corbin Greenslade each scored one run to lock down the game 10-7 over Huntington.
Harvey Weston pitched 5.1 innings and struck out an impressive ten batters.
Tim Dillehay pitched for 0.2 innings and threw 19 pitches while recording one strikeout.
Peter Wallsmith pitched for one inning, threw 15 pitches, and struck out one Forester.
The Pilots will continue their conference series against Huntington tomorrow at Forest Glen Park. Game three will commence at 1:00 p.m., with the final game to follow.
