GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Bethel Pilots (7-10, 2-8) were defeated by Cornerstone University (13-2, 9-2) in five sets after two of them went to extra points.
The first set featured multiple lead changes throughout but had Bethel down 24-21 near the end. The Pilots went on a 5-0 run to finish the set and win 26-24 off a Sebastian Rodriguez service ace.

Set two faired well for Cornerstone as they grew a lead and maintained it throughout the set to win 25-19.

Bethel bounced back in the third and had a 12-11 lead, but Cornerstone found a couple of runs of their own and defeated the Pilots 25-17.

The Pilots dominated the fourth set with kills from Andre Parra, Erik Malek, Andrin Broder, and Afonso Matias, leading to a 25-19 set win.

The fifth set came down to the wire. It was tied 11-11, and the points went back and forth until it was tied again at 15-15. Cornerstone found the last two points with a kill and an ace to win the set 17-15 and the game 3-2.
