MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots Softball team (7-20, 3-11) was swept by the NAIA 17th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats (22-4, 13-1) in a scoreless affair 9-0 (6 inn.) and 15-0.

GAME 1

Starting pitcher Ryann Norris (4-8) threw two scoreless innings until IWU got on the board with a double steal that drew the throw to second, but the throw to the plate was late and scored the game’s first run.

The Wildcats tacked on two more runs with a double to center field, then one more from an RBI single, and grew their lead to 4-0.

In the sixth, IWU scored on a throwing error to first, then drove in a run from a groundout to the shortstop and forced the eight-run rule after a three-run home run over the left field fence to seal the game one win 9-0.

GAME 2

The second game was a slow burn, and the first run came from an RBI single to center field in the bottom of the second.

In the third, IWU roped in two runs on a single, and the fifth broke the game open with four runs and one run shy of the eight-run rule.

The seventh began with a solo home run by the Wildcats, and they scored eight unanswered runs to sweep the Pilots and win game two 15-0.

NEXT TIME OUT

The home stand continues on Saturday, Mar. 30, for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. against the Huntington Foresters at Gardner Field.
