Bethel swept by league leading Taylor, 7-2 and 4-0

Upland, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (13-23) fell to the RV Taylor Trojans (27-11) by a score of 7-2 and 4-0, with Alex Stout going 3-for-6 at the plate for the Pilots.

 

GAME 1

Thomas Dolan started the scoring with a two-RBI double to left field to score Cooper Tolson and Alex Stout to give the Pilots a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. The Trojans rallied in the bottom of the second with an RBI double to left center, a two-RBI triple to right center, and scored on an error to take the lead 4-2.

Taylor put up three more runs in the bottom of the third on an error and a two-run home run to left field to complete the Trojan victory 7-2.

Ty Mickiewicz falls to 3-5 on the season after his four-inning affair allowing seven runs (four earned) on seven hits and four punchouts.

 

GAME 2

The bats were silent for the Pilots in the nightcap with three hits as a team, but starting pitcher Andrew Gerber kept the Trojans to four hits despite the four runs let up in his 4.1 inning outing.

Taylor plated their first run in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI double to left-center to take the 1-0 lead, then hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third to take a three-run lead.

The Trojan offensive scored their final run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to center field to complete the four-game sweep of the Pilots 4-0.

 

THE PILOTS RETURN HOME

Bethel plays their first game back at Jenkins Stadium since Mar. 24 to take on the Marian Knights for a four-game series on Apr. 14-15, then hosts the Spring Arbor Cougars on Apr. 21-22 in the final home series of the season. All games will be live on bupilots.com/watch, with live stats for fans.
