Palm Coast, Fla. — Led by the red-hot play of Maria Pardo Victori, the Bethel University women’s golf team made a big move in round #2 of the NCCAA National Championship Tuesday.
The sensational junior from Sevilla, Spain carded six birdies on the day to offset a quadruple bogey on hole #9 and ended the round firing a three over par 75.
Pardo Victori wasn’t the only one to shine on this day, as Jessica Shurety and Taeyon Kwon both fired scores of 76 respectively.
The tandem dropped 19 shots collectively from Day 1 when freshman Selah Unwin parred her last 7 holes, her score of 81 rounded out the team tally for Bethel as they dropped 23 shots overall from the first round to shoot a team score of 308.
The +20 score of 308 bumped Bethel into a slim 2 shot lead over Grace College headed into the final round on Wednesday. The two teams will be paired together for the first time in the tournament in the final round on Wednesday.
Pardo Victori (77-75-152) is tied for the tournament lead, while Kwon sits alone in 4th at (85-76-161).
Shurety, the 2022 National Tournament Medalist is tied for 5th with a 2-day total of 162 (86-76).
