KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Bethel Women’s Soccer (12-7-2) closed out Pool A play at the NCCAA National Championship with a 3–2 victory over the Asbury University Eagles (11-9-4) on Wednesday afternoon at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex. With the win, the Pilots exit Pool A undefeated (3–0) and advance to Saturday’s championship matchup in pursuit of the NCCAA National title.
The Pilots wasted no time asserting control, scoring all three goals within the first nine minutes. Grace Beck opened the match with a strike in the fifth minute, and Karly Harkness followed with back-to-back goals in the seventh and ninth minutes, putting Bethel ahead 3–0.
Asbury responded with goals in the 11th minute and 69th minutes, but Bethel’s defensive group, supported by all three goalkeepers: Meghan Kiebel, Marleny Ramirez, and Lauren Gatewood, held firm to close out the match.
The Pilots outshot Asbury 24–11, including 10 shots on goal, and earned a 5–1 advantage in corner kicks.
Harkness led the attack with four shots and two goals, while Beck added three shots and the early opener. Bethel’s depth again played a major role, with 19 players logging minutes to maintain pressure throughout both halves.
Head Coach Jason Freeman shared, “So proud of the players over the last few days to finish pool play 3-0. This group is playing their best soccer of the year at the right time. Excited to be back playing for another national title on Saturday.”
Bethel will face the Southwestern Christian University Eagles (14-6-2) on Sat, Dec. 6 at 4 PM.
