MISHAWAKA, Ind. —The Bethel Pilots (6-2-1, 0-1) opened up Crossroads League play on Wednesday evening with a 1-0 loss to the No. 24 Taylor Trojans (9-0, 1-0)

The Pilots prevented the Trojans from scoring the entire first half, with Meghan Kiebel recording two saves.

Following Trojan Campbell Massey’s goal in the 64th minute of the game (1-0), Meghan Kiebel picked up an additional three saves.

The Pilots remained aggressive throughout the second half, attempting five shots following Taylor’s goal.

Head Coach Jason Freeman shared, “The character and effort from our group were phenomenal tonight. You could feel the crowd and atmosphere more than usual with quality play from both teams. Tough result after playing a very good 90 minutes, but credit to Coach Stan and Taylor…With two good teams on the field tonight, we came up just short on the scoreboard in a game of fine margins.”

Karly Harfouche wrote, “Proud of the team’s performance despite the 1-0 loss. Looking forward to our next game.”

That next game for Bethel will be another Crossroads League matchup, this time against the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars on Saturday, September 27th. Bethel will travel to Mount Vernon, Ohio for the matchup, with kickoff set for 3:00 PM.
