MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (4-1-0) outshot the Judson Eagles (1-1-3) 13-6 in a methodical match that ended with a 1-0 Alumni Day victory at Morey Field on Saturday night’s nightcap of home games.

Aubrey Vervynckt was the first to fire at the net in the third minute but was knocked away by Judson’s Mara Quintero. In the tenth minute, Annalise Jung swung on frame but was saved by Eva Fernandez.

The rest of the first half was empty for both teams but Karly Harkness had a few battles at the baseline before getting around the defender in the 84th minute and connecting with Chloe Baker for the game-winner.

“I am proud of how well we continued to push for a second-half goal, ” said head coach Jason Freeman, “There were a few momentum shifts in the 90 minutes but neither team seemed willing to break. It was a goal well deserved [for Harkness] and Judson was a very challenging opponent. We are starting to get into a rhythm as we head toward the middle stretch of the season, but we still need continued daily growth.”

NEXT TIME OUT

The Cornerstone Golden Eagles come to Morey Field on Wednesday, Sept. 11 with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. The Golden Eagles look to bounce back from a 2-0 loss to the Trinity Christian Trolls earlier in the week and are 2-1-1 on the season. CU faced the Crossroads League on Aug. 30 when they tied the Saint Francis Cougars 1-1.
