MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (14-8, 4-5) honored seniors Paige Hickey, Maddy Payne, and Sophia Johnston at the Gates Gymnasium Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over the Taylor Trojans (7-14, 2-7).

Payne helped spark an 8-1 run to give the Pilots an early lead in set one 14-8, then kept the lead to the 24th Pilot point with the Trojans fighting back with a 3-0 run that was ended by Taylor Delp’s set winning kill, 25-20.

The Trojans answered with a 10-2 second set run and held the Pilots to 15 points and dropped the set 25-15, but Bethel found its bearings in the third with a comeback from Ainsley Tacke to force the extra points and gave BU the 25-24 advantage before a Trojan attack error gave Bethel the 2-1 set advantage.

Bethel stormed to a 9-2 advantage in the fourth and held TU to 17 points and won set four 25-17 and the match 3-1.

Paige Franz had 10 digs, Haley Biedenbach had a team-leading 39 assists, and Tacke had 11 kills in the Pilot win.
