Bethel Women’s Volleyball completes reverse sweep over Saint Xavier (Ill.)

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — After two, three-point set losses out of the gate, the Bethel Pilots (12-6, 2-3) rallied back to win 3-2 in a five-set battle with the Saint Xavier Cougars (6-9, 3-0) in the Gates Gymnasium on Friday night.

Bethel ran full steam ahead to start the third set on a 12-2 run and held a comfortable margin until the Cougars brought the set to 15-14. At the 21-20 BU advantage, the Pilots battled to the set point 24-21 and an SXU attack error gave the Pilots the third set 25-21.

The Pilots won the third set by a considerable 25-17 margin and soared to a quick 8-2 lead and took the fifth set 15-7 and the match 3-2.

Breyana Bosket, Maddy Payne, and Ainsley Tacke had double-digit kills 13,12, and 11 respectively. Haley Biedenbach had 29 assists and Payne collected 11 blocks.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots return to Crossroads League play against the Grace Lancers in Winona Lake, Ind. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.
