MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (16-13, 6-8) completed a commanding 3-0 sweep over the Goshen Maple Leafs (6-24, 1-13) on October 23, 2024, at Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. The Pilots, after two hard-fought sets, then battled to secure the third set to close out the match in straight sets.

Bethel opened the match with a quick lead in the first set, controlling the pace through strong offensive contributions from Maddy Payne and Ainsley Tacke. Despite Goshen’s efforts to close the gap, the Pilots held steady and finished the set 25-19.

In the second set, Bethel’s momentum surged. A 6-0 run early on set the tone, and Goshen struggled to find answers against Bethel’s relentless attack and solid blocking. The Pilots cruised to a 25-14 victory, with Payne and Sophia Johnston providing key plays at the net.

The third set was a back-and-forth affair, with Goshen putting up a stronger fight, even holding a lead at 19-18.

However, Payne and Tacke once again delivered in clutch moments, allowing Bethel to reclaim the lead and secure the set 25-23, sweeping the match.

NEXT TIME OUT

The Pilots return home on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. in the Gates Gymnasium to face the Grace Lancers.
