Bethel WVB sweep past USF (IN), 3-0

MISHAWAKA, Ind —The Bethel Pilots (13-8, 5-3) defeated the University of Saint Francis Cougars (4-16, 0-8) 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Gates Gymnasium.

The matched marked the Pilots’ eighth Crossroads League matchup of the 2025 season. In the last home contest against the Cougars, the Pilots also swept USF on November 2nd, 2024.

Paige Franz led the team in service aces (three) and digs (nine).

Starting Setter Haley Biedenbach totaled 32 assists, alongside two kills, one ace, and two blocks.

In the opening set, the Cougars claimed a slight lead over Bethel (6-4) following strong serving from Hannnah Quin, who posted two consecutive aces.

Ainsley Tacke had a strong offensive showing in the final minutes of the first, contributing two crucial kills, and a defensive block alongside middle Breyana Bosket for a 25-20 Bethel win.

In the second set of the afternoon, the Pilots held the Cougars to single digits for a majority of the set, concluding with a kill by Haley Biedenbach (17-9).

Breyana Bosket once again remained a key factor in closing out the set, showcasing a kill and block for a 25-17 score.

Bethel copied and pasted their set two score in the final set of the day. Taylor Delp scored a kill off of Haley Biedenbach for another 25-17 win.

Haley Biedenbach shared, “I’m so proud of our team! Through the best and worst days, we are learning how to lift each other up, sacrifice for one another, and grow as a unit. It showed today on the court! Such a fun win.”

Head Coach Erica Dregits wrote, “We focused on limiting our errors on offense and playing with energy and max effort! I think we accomplished that today!”

The Pilots will next compete against the No. 22 Taylor Unviersity Trojans on Wednesday, Oct. 1st at 7:00 PM in Odle Arena.
