Bethel’s Jeremy Wiersema leads NAIA in Stolen Bases after breaking program record

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Senior Jeremy Wiersema broke the Baseball program’s single-season stolen base record with now 39 stolen bases this season.

He is tied on the national scale with LSU Shreveport’s Ryan Major, both with 39 stolen bases, he broke the record when he stole second after hitting a single in the bottom of the first inning in game two of the Pilots’ doubleheader against the Spring Arbor Cougars.

The Allendale, Mich. native is also ranked second in the NAIA in triples with three and second in the NAIA in doubles with fifteen this season.

The Pilots are battling for the final seeds in the eight team Crossroads League conference tournament that is scheduled for May 3-8 at Huntington University in Huntington, Ind.

Wiersema will be honored tomorrow, Apr. 21 in between games in Bethel’s doubleheader to finish the four-game series with Spring Arbor.
