Fourth seed Nebraska turned away fifth seed Rutgers, 9-7, in the opening game of the tournament for both teams.

Nebraska (32-21-1) exploded for six runs in the seventh inning, capitalizing on a bases-loaded walk and hit batsman to push the decisive runs across the plate.

Rutgers (33-22) will play Michigan State tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT in a must-way game for both sides while Nebraska takes on top seed Maryland at 6 p.m.

Game 5: Michigan 6, Illinois 3
Michigan rebounded from its opening game loss with a 6-3 win against Illinois as the Fighting Illini (25-27) became the first team eliminated from the tournament.

Jack Van Remortel drove in three runs and hit his sixth homer of the season while reliever Jacob Denner closed out the game, allowing just two hits and striking out six over the final 3.2 frames.
