Bracket Released for 2019 Paradise Jam; Valpo to Open Against Grand Canyon

Game matchups and start times for the 2019 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam were released Monday, May 13, 2019. The men’s Paradise Jam, which will be held Nov. 22-25 at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Sports and Fitness Center in St. Thomas, opens up with Valpo Men’s Basketball taking on Grand Canyon at noon CT on Friday, Nov. 22. All games at the 2019 U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam will stream online at FloHoops.com.
Valpo opens up tournament play against a Grand Canyon team which went 19-14 overall in 2018-19 and finished at 10-6 in the WAC. Nevada and Fordham are on Valpo’s side of the bracket as well, while Cincinnati, Illinois State, Bowling Green and Western Kentucky sit on the other side of the bracket.
The losers from the first-round games will open consolation bracket play on Saturday, Nov. 23, while the first-round winners will play in their respective semifinals on Sunday, Nov. 24. The tournament concludes with the final four games on Monday, Nov. 25.
This marks Valpo’s second appearance at the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, as the Brown and Gold previously ventured to the Virgin Islands in November of 2008. Valpo is one of four teams in the men’s tournament who have appeared at the Paradise Jam before, joining Fordham, Illinois State and Nevada.
