The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Penn senior volleyball player Alyssa Torres, New Prairie sophomore volleyball player Elise Swistek, and Chesterton senior goalkeeper Nick Harmon.

In Saturday’s Class 4A LaPorte Regional, the 5-foot-10 Torres helped the Kingsmen claim their first regional crown since 2012 with 14 kills, two blocks, and five digs in a 27-25, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17 victory over Michigan City. Earlier in the day, she tallied 12 kills and three blocks in a 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 25-19 triumph over Munster in the semifinals. Penn (33-5) takes on top-ranked Yorktown (33-0) in the Huntington North Semistate on October 27.

The 5-foot-10 Swistek played a big role in leading the Cougars to their first regional title since 2014 with 17 kills in a 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 25-22, victory over Northwestern in Saturday’s Class 3A Kankakee Valley Regional final. She also chipped in 12 kills and 20 digs in a 25-12, 25-8, 25-13 victory over Wheeler earlier in the semifinals. New Prairie (27-11) meets top-ranked and defending state champion New Castle (33-5) on October 27 in the Huntington North Semistate.

In Saturday’s Class 3A Kokomo boys’ soccer semistate, Harmon came on after an injury to starter Charlie Eaton and stopped five shots during regulation and another during penalty kicks, helping the Trojans to a 1-0 win over Carroll (Fort Wayne). No. 1 Chesterton (20-0-2), which is now in the state finals for the second time in three years, takes on No. 2 Zionsville (18-1-3) for the state championship at IUPUI on October 27.

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in the Centier Bank geographic area.
