Chargers Tab Herring as New Athletic Director

Marian University Ancilla College is excited to introduce Jeremy Herring as the new Director of Athletics, effective immediately. Herring has both a broad background in collegiate athletics, as well as a history within the Marian Ancilla community and athletics department. Additionally, he looks to bring a wide range of professional experiences with him to the new position. “I am honored to serve as the next Director of Athletics at Marian University’s Ancilla College. I look forward to leading our athletics department, fostering growth and success, and fulfilling the mission of Marian University,” stated an excited Herring.

 

Mr. Herring has worked six years in college athletics as a professional coach, including one season as the Assistant Coach (2021-22) and two seasons as the Head Coach (2022-24) for the Charger Men’s Basketball team. As a student-athlete himself, he participated collegiately at Indiana University-South Bend and spent two seasons in professional basketball as part of the International Basketball League.

 

Over the past seven academic terms, Herring has served as Associate Professor of Business at Marian Ancilla, where he has carried out the duties in a variety of administrative capacities. This includes being the MUAC Business Department Lead, where he has taught courses in Sports Management, including Intro to Management and Sports Facility & Events Management. This Fall, he added the position of Faculty Athletics Representative to his campus roles, where he served as the intermediary between the academic faculty, the student-athletes, and the athletics staff.

 

Additionally, Herring has taught classes in Sports Law at Purdue University-Fort Wayne. Prior to professionally entering the world of athletics and higher education, Herring spent five years as a judicial law clerk and trial lawyer in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Indiana University, a Master of Organizational Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude from Valparaiso University Law School.

 

In closing, Mr. Herring added, “I believe Marian Ancilla is the best opportunity for students to prepare themselves for the next step in their lives. It’s a place where students will develop academically, spiritually, socially, and athletically. I am excited to play a leading role in that process for our students as the Director of Athletics.”
