Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | August 18-24

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from August 18 through 24. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Kendall Bollenbacher, Spring Arbor
Bollenbacher powered Spring Arbor to a second-straight 4-0 week to open the season. The senior hitter tallied 3.3 kills per set on a .256 percentage and added 0.7 blocks and 2.6 digs to go with a pair of double-double performances.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Emma Lyons, Marian
Lyons led No. 22 Marian to a 3-1 week by gathering 98 digs for a 6.13 digs-per-set average. The senior had at least 25 digs in three-of-four matches and added nine service aces to just three service errors to further fuel the Knights.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Abbigail Porter, Indiana Wesleyan
Porter was busy in a trio of matches for top-ranked Indiana Wesleyan, as the senior setter had at least 35 assists in each match and closed the week with 10.3 assists per set. In addition to her work orchestrating the IWU attack, Porter added 3.4 digs and 0.6 kills per set.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Cassidy Felger, Grace
Felger racked up 10 points over a pair of comfortable wins for Grace. The junior opened with two goals and two assists in a 13-0 drubbing of St. Mary-of-the-Woods and found the net two more times in a 3-0 win over Graceland.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Campbell Massey, Taylor
Massey helped anchor a pair of shutout victories for RV Taylor, while also scoring twice to pick up four points on the week. The junior defender opened the season with a goal in TU’s 6-0 win at Indiana Tech and then provided the game-winner in a 1-0 result against Georgetown.

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Tim Groenenberg, Goshen
Groenenberg stole the show in his first outing with Goshen, putting two of his four shots in goal and adding an assist in an 8-0 win over Calumet to open the season. The senior’s output helped GC post its highest scoring total since 2018.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Pedro Galante, Grace
Galante led Grace to a 1-1 draw with No. 4 Cumberlands and a 1-0 shutout victory against Graceland. The junior keeper picked up three stops in the match with Cumberlands, before posting the one-save shutout against Graceland.
