Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | August 19-25

 

JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top individual performances from August 19 through 25. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.

Volleyball Attacker of the Week
Lyssi Snouffer, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Snouffer powered No. 20 MVNU to four 3-0 victories with 4.8 kills, 2.7 digs and 0.5 blocks per set. Snouffer closed the weekend with successive kill totals of 17, 14 and 16 and had at least eight digs in each of those outings.

Volleyball Defender of the Week
Kirstyn Throop, Spring Arbor

Throop gathered 6.1 digs per set for Spring Arbor over four matches, including three outings with at least 25 digs. The senior libero’s finest performance came with 30 digs in a four-set win over RV Columbia International.

Volleyball Setter of the Week
Reagan Nuss, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Nuss helped No. 20 MVNU to a 4-0 showing over the weekend The junior setter led the Cougars to straight-set wins in all four matches, tallying 11.7 assists and 3.8 digs per set.

Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Layla Brown, Marian
Brown feasted on the IU Kokomo defense, picking up three goals in the 9-0 No. 19 Marian victory. Brown added a fourth goal for the week with a score in MU’s loss at No. 1 Cumberlands.

Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Zoe Mueller, Grace
Mueller anchored the air-tight defense for Grace in a pair of shutout victories. Mueller and the Lancer defense allowed just three total shots and just one shot on-goal in the two clean sheet performances.

 

Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Foslyn Grant, Marian
Grant led Marian with seven points in two matches, netting two goals and one assist in a 5-2 win over Lawrence Tech and adding another goal in a draw with Judson.

Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Victor Jaunay, Spring Arbor
Jaunay posted 18 saves in goal for Spring Arbor, including a 12-save effort in SAU’s 3-2 upset win over No. 18 Lindsey Wilson.
