Crossroads League Announces Athletes of the Week | December 2-8

 

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from December 2 through 8. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
TreVion Crews, Bethel

Crews netted 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists to lead unbeaten and 19th-ranked Bethel to wins over No. 7 SAU and Taylor. The All-American had 39 points and the game-winner at Spring Arbor, before posting a double-double in BU’s overtime win against the Trojans.

 

Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Becca Buchs, Taylor

Buchs averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds, while sinking 13-of-25 attempts from beyond the arc in No. 15 Taylor’s wins over Grace and Bethel. The All-American had 21 points and 13 boards against GC, before going for 30 on eight-of-16 shooting from deep in a win against BU.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Shane Glasco, Bethel

Glasco hit the NAIA A standard in the high jump in his collegiate debut, posting the top mark in the NAIA so far this season by clearing 2.12 meters and setting a new Bethel program record.

 

Men’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Travis Sperry, Bethel

Sperry provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals in the first meet of the season with a time of 22.31 in the 200-meter dash and also hit the NAIA A standard in the 4×400-meter relay for the Pilots.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week
Emily Roth, Bethel

Roth hit the NAIA B standard with a distance of 5.53 meters in the long jump for Bethel, posting the fifth-best mark of the young season in the NAIA.

 

Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week
Molly Mitchell, Huntington

Mitchell set personal-bests and hit NAIA A standards in three events over the weekend, highlighted by winning the 1,000-meter run at the Grand Valley State Open with an NAIA-leading time of 2:56.58.
